About this place
Komori no Taki (Bat Falls) is a waterfall in Kamiozuka, Asaji-cho, Bungoono, Oita Prefecture. It was registered as a National Registered Monument on July 26, 2007. In the middle reaches of the Ono River, downstream of the confluence of the Ono River and the Soga River, two streams of waterfall flow down a horseshoe-shaped cliff of columnar joints about 10 m high and about 120 m wide. It is said to have been named because it looks like a bat spreading its wings when seen from above. A group of potholes has developed on the riverbed upstream of the falls.
