Overview
Cliff-carved Buddhas in Ogata, Bungo-ono. A figure is placed at the center, and they are one of the highlights of the geopark.
About this place
Stone Buddhas in Ogata, Bungoono, Oita Prefecture. The central figure is a Nyorai, with Fudo Myoo on the right and Jikokuten on the left, and Nio guardians, Un and A, line both sides. The style suggests the late Heian period, but from the bold modeling and strong local character they are thought to have been made in the Kamakura period.
