Overview
A pool in Bungo-ono, hollowed out of the rock.
About this place
A rapid stretch of the Ono River in Shibayama, Chitose, Bungoono, Oita Prefecture. A stratum called the Ono River Group, deposited on the seabed, is exposed, said to be about 100 million years old. Tilted greatly by crustal movement, it looks like a door panel stood on end. The name is said to come from crabs avoiding the rapids and walking over the rocks, where they could be caught by hand.
