About this place
A waterfall in Bungoono, Oita Prefecture, and a representative highlight of the Sobo-Katamuki-Okue UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Known as a rare waterfall that suddenly appears in the countryside, it is selected as one of the 100 Best Waterfalls of Japan. It is 120 m wide with a drop of 20 m, and can be viewed from the front from the suspension bridge in front of the falls, and you can also get close right above and below it. The slippery bedrock is the hardened great pyroclastic flow of Aso volcano from 90,000 years ago.
