Overview
A hot spring in Kagamino, where the custom of washing clothes in the river with the feet survives.
About this place
A riverside hot spring town in the Mimasaka region of Okayama. Long-established inns and guesthouses line the town, and the foot-stomp laundering at the foot of Okutsu Bridge is a symbolic sight, with demonstrations for tourists on Sunday and holiday mornings from March to November. The water is a simple alkaline hot spring that leaves the skin smooth and is called a beauty bath.
