A temple in Soja, one of the provincial temples founded in the Nara period, with a five-storey pagoda.
About this place
One of the provincial temples built across the country at the vow of Emperor Shomu in the Nara period, in Soja, Okayama. The present buildings were rebuilt in the Edo period, and the grounds have a five-story pagoda about 34 m high, designated an Important Cultural Property as the only five-story pagoda in the prefecture. It is also known as a place for photography and cycling amid pastoral scenery.
