Said to have begun in the 6th century as a branch of Omiya Hikawa Shrine. Kawagoe's head shrine since Dokan Ota built the castle.
About this place
A shrine in Kawagoe, Saitama. It is said to have begun in the 6th century, in the reign of Emperor Kinmei, as a branch of Omiya Hikawa Shrine, the first shrine of Musashi Province. Since Ota Dokan built Kawagoe Castle it has been regarded as the area's chief shrine. From Kawagoe Station take the Tobu Bus to Kitamachi, then about 5 minutes on foot.
