About this place
Yoshimiko Shrine is a shrine in Konan, Shiga Prefecture. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine, with the former shrine rank of village shrine. According to the shrine's tradition, a deity descended in the 68th year of Emperor Sujin's reign, and in the 2nd year of Emperor Suinin, Yoshihiko no Mikoto and Yoshihime no Mikoto, children of Ukanohiko, were enshrined at Tanikuro no Gozen, which is said to be its founding. In 811 (Konin 2), a disaster led to branch shrines being established in the east and west of the town, and it corresponds to the western one.
