Overview
A Tendai Shinsei temple in Yasu, formed in the Edo period by joining two temples.
About this place
A Tendai Shinsei sect temple in Yasu, located about 700 m northeast of JR Yasu Station. Chofukuji (principal image Kannon Bodhisattva) and Enkobo (principal image Amida Nyorai) were merged and restored in the Edo period. Just inside the temple gate stands the main hall, whose front roof alone extends long and curves forward in the style called nagare-zukuri, known for its unusual roof. The nine-story stone pagoda in front of the main hall, from the Kamakura period, is an Important Cultural Property.
