About this place
Inasa no Hama is a sandy beach in Taisha-cho, Izumo, Shimane Prefecture. It is a coast about 10 km north to south that opens in a bow shape toward the west. It is also the setting of the Kuniyuzuri (Transfer of the Land) myth, and appears under names such as 'Inasa no Obama' ('Kojiki') and 'Itasa no Ohama' ('Nihon Shoki'). Also, the coast of the western Shimane Peninsula continuing south from Inasa no Hama is called 'Sono no Nagahama', and in the 'Kuni-biki myth' recorded in the 'Izumo no Kuni Fudoki' it is said to be the rope connecting the Shimane Peninsula and Mt. Sahime (Mt. Sanbe).
