A shrine in Matsue, up steps of natural stone. Its main hall is the oldest surviving taisha-zukuri and a national treasure.
About this place
A shrine in Oba-cho, Matsue, Shimane. It has stone steps made of piled-up huge natural stones, and has a solemn appearance befitting the home of the gods of ancient Izumo. It is said to bring benefits such as matchmaking, conception, safe childbirth, and the prosperity of commerce and industry. It enshrines Izanami no Okami, a creator deity of Japan.
