About this place
The symbol of Matsue, a castle town of 186,000 koku, in Tonomachi, Matsue, Shimane. One of the 12 surviving castle keeps in Japan, it was designated a national treasure in 2015. From the Tengu no Ma on the top floor you can see the whole of Matsue and Lake Shinji in 360 degrees, and the stone-laying techniques that have endured 400 years are also a highlight.
