About this place
The Hii River Levee Cherry Blossom Avenue (Hiikawa Teibo Sakura Namiki) is the name of an avenue of cherry trees planted along about 2 km of the levee (upstream from Kisuki Station) of the Hii River flowing through Kisuki, Unnan, Shimane Prefecture. About 800 Somei-Yoshino trees are planted. In 1990 (Heisei 2), it was also selected for Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. One minute's walk from Kisuki Station on the JR West Kisuki Line. Five minutes by car from Mitoya-Kisuki Interchange on the Matsue Expressway. From late March to early April, paper lanterns (andon) are lit along the avenue.
