About this place
Mizuwakasu Shrine is a shrine in Kori, Okinoshima, Oki District, Shimane Prefecture. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine (Myojin Taisha), and the Ichinomiya of Oki Province. Its former shrine rank was Kokuhei Chusha, and it is now a Beppyo Shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. Its crest is the 'sixteen-petal chrysanthemum.' The deities are the following three. The 'Inshu Shicho Goki' gives the deity as Emperor Sujin, but this is considered a mix-up of the shrine's tradition that the deity manifested in the reign of Emperor Sujin. Mizuwakasu no Mikoto The Engishiki Jinmyocho, compiled in Encho 5 (927), lists one seat for the deity.
