About this place

Senbonmatsu Farm is a ranch in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture. It is one of northern Kanto's leading tourist ranches, in a corner of a plateau at an elevation of 320 to 380 meters in the western half of Nasuno-ga-hara, an alluvial fan of the Naka River system. As part of the development of Nasuno-ga-hara, in 1902 Matsukata Masayoshi took over land from the Nasu Kaikonsha and opened it. It became a pioneer in the Nasu region of European and American-style farm management using large machinery. The farm's name comes from the red pine forests that grew wild in large numbers around it at the time.
