About this place
The Heike Yashiki Folklore Museum is a museum related to the Heike in Higashinishioka, Nishi-Iyayama Village, Miyoshi, Tokushima Prefecture. The main house and storehouse are designated Miyoshi City cultural properties. The Heike Yashiki Folklore Museum uses the Nishioka family residence, whose ancestor was Naiki Horikawa, as a museum. Naiki Horikawa served at court as personal physician to Emperor Antoku until the Jisho, Yowa and Juei periods, but when the Heike fled the capital he escaped to Yashima accompanying Emperor Antoku. After the fall of the Heike, Naiki Horikawa entered the mountains with the remnants and settled in Iya, this place.
