About this place
Meiji Jingu Gaien is an area of sports and cultural facilities, green space and parks completed in 1926, spanning Kasumigaoka-machi, Shinjuku Ward, and Kita-Aoyama, Minato Ward, Tokyo. Meiji Shrine owns and manages 66.2% of the outer gardens. It is usually called Jingu Gaien, and is further abbreviated as Gaien (as in Gaienmae Station). After the war it was requisitioned by GHQ from 18 September 1945, but was returned on 31 March 1952.
