About this place
The family temple of Maeda Toshinaga, the second head of the Kaga Maeda family and founder of Takaoka, in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. It was built by the third head, Maeda Toshitsune, to pray for the repose of Toshinaga's soul. The National Treasures are the mountain gate, the Buddha hall and the lecture hall, while the main gate, the Zen hall, the large kitchen, the large tea hall and the three corridor buildings are designated Important Cultural Properties, and it is valued as early Edo period Zen temple architecture.
