Overview
The highest natural hot-spring inn in Japan.
About this place
Mikurigaike Onsen is a hot spring in Tateyama, Nakaniikawa District, Toyama Prefecture. It is within Chubu-Sangaku National Park. There is an onsen inn of the same name, whose elevation of 2,410 m makes it said to be Japan's highest hot spring inn. The water is piped in from Jigokudani (elevation 2,300 m), the highest spring source area in Japan, and flows freely without recirculation. Beside Mikurigaike pond at Murodo in the Tateyama range stands the single inn Mikurigaike Onsen, which also belongs to the Association to Protect Japan's Secret Hot Springs.
