About this place
A swimming beach in Wakaura, Wakayama, in Waka-no-ura, a scenic spot celebrated in waka poetry. The sandy beach continues for about 1,200 m. One of the Ministry of the Environment's 100 Best Swimming Beaches, it is one of only 10 in the country chosen as a Special Selection in the sea category. The swimming season is July and August, and parking holds about 850 cars.
