About this place
Senjojiki is a wave-cut platform located from Setozaki to Sakinoyu in Shirahama, Nishimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. Together with Engetsujima and Sandanbeki, it is designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty under the name 'Engetsujima (Takashima), Senjojiki and Sandanbeki.' It is designated as part of Yoshino-Kumano National Park (Tanabe area). It is a sloping rock shelf facing the Pacific Ocean, made of sandstone of the Neogene period. Because the sandstone is very soft, it has been eroded by the waves crashing in, forming complex topography. The area is about 2 hectares.
