About this place
Shirarahama is a sandy beach on the coast of Kanayama Bay in Shirahama, Nishimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. It is a pocket beach lying between Gongen-zaki to the north and Yuzaki to the south. It is a Goodwill Beach City Relationship sister beach of Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. It is an urban park under the name Shirahama Kaigan Park. Shirarahama is one of the leading swimming beaches in the Kinki region, and in summer it bustles with bathers mainly from the Keihanshin area.
