About this place
One of the Three Mountains of Dewa, in Shonai, Yamagata. At the summit of Mount Haguro (414 m) stands the Sanjin Gosaiden of Dewa Shrine, which jointly enshrines the gods of the three mountains. The approach, with the national treasure five-story pagoda, has 2,446 stone steps and an avenue of cedars. Reiwa 8 (2026) is a Horse year, Mount Haguro's special year of affinity, and worshipping then is said to bring 12 years' worth of blessings.
