Overview
A hot-spring street where three-storey wooden inns face each other across the Ginzan River. The Taisho-era buildings are still in use.
About this place
A retro hot spring town in Obanazawa, Yamagata, with wooden inns lining both banks of the Ginzan River. At dusk the gas lamps are lit, like the setting of the film Spirited Away, and it is also known as a filming location of the drama Oshin. The inn walls carry pictures called kote-e, and at the "Waraku Ashiyu" foot bath you can soak in water used straight from the source.
