About this place
Zao Onsen in Yamagata is a hot spring characterized by abundant water and strongly acidic sulfur water. Known as a "beautiful skin bath" and a "bath that makes beauty," it has many inns and hotels, and three public baths: Kami-yu, Shimo-yu and Kawara-yu. In winter you can view rime ice from the Zao Ropeway, and a rime ice illumination is held at night.
