About this place
"Ura Yamadera" (formally "Minenoura") deep in Yamadera, Yamagata. It is said to be the place where the priest Jikaku Daishi Ennin conceived the plan of Yamadera. The Tarumizu Site is about 15 minutes on foot from the entrance of the mountain path, where a giant honeycomb-like rock face and a torii appear. Fudo Myoo is enshrined, and traces of mountain asceticism and a gorinto cave remain. Entry is prohibited in winter.
