Overview
A forest that appears in Lake Shirakawa in Iide from late April into May, when snowmelt fills it. The trees seem to grow out of the water.
About this place
A submerged forest at Lake Shirakawa in Iide, Yamagata. In early spring, when snowmelt flows in and the lake is full, a scene appears for only two months in which fresh-green white willows look as if they grow out of the water. It can be seen from Shirakawa Dam Lakeside Park, and there are also canoe tours. The cooperation-fee period is April 18 to May 18, from 1,000 yen for cars.
