Overview
A hot spring in the hills of Okura. Said to have opened in 807, it still keeps inns where guests cook for themselves.
About this place
A hot spring town in Yamagata that keeps the atmosphere of an old-fashioned spa-cure village. Its charm is free-flowing source water and a simple townscape, and the old post office building in the center of the town is known as a stylish building. At the famous morning market, seasonal wild vegetables and vegetables are lined up, and in this heavy-snow area with snow over 3 m deep, events such as "Hijiori Fantasy Snow Corridor" are held in winter.
