A shrine in Nanyo. Three rabbits are said to be hidden in the carving behind the main hall.
About this place
A shrine in Nanyo. Also called the Ise of Tohoku and counted as one of Japan's Three Kumano shrines, it is known for matchmaking. On the approach is a great ginkgo 850 years old, and climbing 46 stone steps brings you to the worship hall and main hall. You can look for the "three rabbits" carving at the back of the main hall, and on full-moon nights a matchmaking prayer festival, "Tsuki Musubi," is held.
