Designated: June 11, 1966 (Showa 41) Quantity: 1 *There are no streetlights or other lighting along the stone-step approach within the mountain precincts. From autumn onward, the precincts become dark early in the evening and it is hard to see your footing. We recommend visiting Mt. Haguro in the morning or during the day. *In winter, the stone steps leading to the five-story pagoda are not cleared of snow and are very slippery. In rain or snow, please borrow rubber boots at the Idewa Cultural Memorial Hall before visiting. The path beyond the five-story pagoda is also not cleared of snow, so please return to the Zuishinmon gate and go to the summit by bus or car.
