Yunohama Onsen

Overview

A hot spring on the coast at Tsuruoka. Said to be a thousand years old, with about a kilometre of sand beach.

About this place

Yunohama Onsen is a hot spring facing the Sea of Japan in Yunohama, Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture (the former Dewa Province, and Uzen Province from the Meiji era). Along with Kaminoyama Onsen, also in Yamagata, and Higashiyama Onsen in Aizu, it was counted as one of the Ou Sanrakukyo (three pleasure spas of Ou). Spring quality: Sodium-calcium chloride spring (Yunohama Nos. 1 to 5), simple spring (Yunohama No. 6) The water is colorless and transparent. There is also a drinking fountain. Source temperature: 40 - 63 degrees C (Yunohama Nos. 1 to 6) Facing the Sea of Japan, there are many hot spring inns with baths from which the setting sun can be viewed and with fresh seafood dishes as their specialty.
