About this place
The grave of Kanji Ishiwara, a former army lieutenant general, in Yuza, Yamagata. Ishiwara was born in Tsuruoka and in 1946 (Showa 21), after the war, moved to present-day Yuza, where he guided comrades and opened a collective farm. The stone monument at the grave carries the words "city dissolution," "unity of agriculture and industry" and "simple living," and the Nichirin Hall where they lived communally remains nearby.
