About this place
Yokote no Yukimatsuri (Yokote's Winter Festival) is an event held every February in the central urban area of Yokote, Akita Prefecture. It consists of the kamakura (mid-February), a Koshogatsu (Little New Year) event honoring the water god; the bonden (February 16 to 17), also a Koshogatsu event; and exhibitions of snow sculptures (snow art). The kamakura and the bonden are often contrasted as the "quiet" kamakura and the "dynamic" bonden.
