About this place
Kumagawa-juku is a post town on the old Saba Kaido, connecting Wakasa and Kyoto, in Wakasa-cho, Mikata-Kaminaka District, Fukui Prefecture. It has been selected as a nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings under the name Wakasa-cho Kumagawa-juku Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. On April 24, 2015, it was also certified as Japan Heritage as a component of "Wakasa Heritage Sites of Travel Culture Linking the Sea and the Capital: Wakasa, the Land of Imperial Food, and the Saba Kaido."
