About this place
Kurokawa Onsen is a hot spring in Minamioguni, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture. Located north of Mount Aso, it forms part of the Minamioguni Onsen Area. It is sometimes included in the broader Aso Onsen Area. Known as one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Japan, it was listed with an exceptional two stars for a hot spring area in the 2009 Michelin Green Guide Japon. The name "Kurokawa Onsen" was registered in 2006 as a regional collective trademark (regional brand).
