About this place
The Sakitsu settlement is the collective name for the area of Sakitsu in Kawaura, Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture. Facing Yokaku Bay, it is known as a village of Hidden Christians. It has been selected as an Important Cultural Landscape under the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties, under the name "Cultural Landscape of Sakitsu and Imatomi in Amakusa City," and it also won a Good Design Award in fiscal 2022.
