About this place
Soni Kogen is a plateau at Taroji, Soni Village, Uda District, Nara Prefecture. It lies within the Class I Special Zone of Muroo-Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park. It is a plateau spreading from the western slopes of Mount Kurouson (elevation 1,038 m) and Mount Kame (elevation 849 m) to their foot; the flat land is at about 700 metres and the area is about 38 hectares. In spring the mountain is burned, and in autumn it is covered all over with Japanese pampas grass except for a wetland called 'Okame Pond'.
