About this place
Tsukigase Plum Grove is a plum grove located at Oyama, Tsukigase, Nara, Nara Prefecture, and its surroundings. Because the plum trees spread along the valley of the Satsuki River, it is also called Tsukigase Baikei. A famous plum grove since ancient times, it is one of the first places of scenic beauty designated by the Japanese government. As of 2007, about 13,000 plum trees are cultivated. The Tsukigase Plum Grove is on the north side of the Yamato Plateau, which spreads along the border between the Nara Basin and the Iga Basin, near the borders of Kyoto, Mie and Nara.
