Built around a black-plastered former bank, the district was reborn as a town of glass.
About this place
Kurokabe Square is a tourist spot in the old town of Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, making use of its group of traditional buildings. It is the collective name for Kurokabe No. 1 through No. 30, Japanese-style buildings with black plaster, but it is generally introduced as the area centered on "Fuda-no-tsuji" (named for being the place where public notice boards stood in the Edo period), the intersection of the Hokkoku Kaido and Otemon-dori (Mino Tanigumi Kaido).
