About this place
Yunotsu Onsen is a hot spring that has been welling up in Yunotsucho, Oda, in central Shimane Prefecture, since the area was called Iwami Province. It has been selected as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. This port town is also registered as a World Heritage Site as part of 'Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine and its Cultural Landscape'. Source temperature: Motoyu Sen'yaku-yu = 49.9 C, Yakushi-yu = 45.9 C The water is clear when it wells up but gradually oxidises, so it looks light brown in the bath. Besides bathing, it can also be drunk, and the taste is slightly bitter and astringent.
