Rites and traditional events that carry on each area's history, faith and way of life.
A grand festival of Heian Jingu in which about 2,000 citizens parade through the city of Kyoto in the dress of each era, from the Meiji Restoration back to the Enryaku era. Paid viewing seats are set up at Kyoto Gyoen, Oike-dori and Heian Jingu-michi.
At this annual festival of Yuki Shrine, people carrying burning torches parade through the village of Kurama from 18:00 until after 24:00. From 15:00 on the day, ordinary vehicles are barred and all parking lots are closed, so please use Eiden's Kurama Station.
The festival runs from July 1 to 31 every year. The Yamahoko float processions are basically held on the 17th (Saki Matsuri) and the 24th (Ato Matsuri). For individual events and traffic restrictions in 2027, check future official announcements.
