A net of channels dug across reclaimed land to hold water; from the air the whole plain reads as a drawing.
About this place
The Saga Plain is a plain spreading from southern to eastern Saga Prefecture, centered on Saga, Saga Prefecture. It is another name for the part of the Chikushi Plain west of the Chikugo River. The Saga Plain most often means the part within Saga Prefecture of the plain from Kashima, Saga Prefecture, in the south to Tosu, Saga Prefecture, in the north. However, the plain also spreads into neighboring Fukuoka Prefecture to the east. The southern part of it is called the Chikugo Plain. The northern part is a river terrace spreading around the Chikugo River and is called the Kitano area.
