An underground lake formed by groundwater in a limestone cave on Minamidaitojima, beneath the sugarcane fields.
Minamidaitojima is said to move about seven centimetres northwest each year. These fissures were opened by that movement.
Minamidaitojima is all cliff and has no beach. The islanders cut this sea pool out of the bedrock.
The largest of the limestone caves on Minamidaitojima, of which some 200 are said to have existed. It runs 375 metres.
