Overview
A townscape in Kurayoshi, with Edo and Meiji merchant houses and storehouses along a stream.
About this place
A group of white-walled storehouses lined up along the Tamagawa River in Kurayoshi, Tottori. Many of the buildings date from the Edo and Meiji periods, and the area is selected as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. There are stone bridges over the Tamagawa and a townscape of red tile roofs and white plaster walls. Storehouses and buildings that were once sake breweries and soy sauce shops are used as a product hall, cafes, galleries, and more.
