About this place
The Sawara Grand Festival is the collective name for the Honjuku Gion Festival in July and the Shinjuku Autumn Festival in October, held in the urban area of Sawara, Katori, Chiba Prefecture. Together with the Kawagoe Hikawa Festival and the Hitachi Province Soja Grand Festival (Ishioka Festival), it is one of the Three Great Float Festivals of the Kanto region. It was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in December 2016.
