About this place
The Public Works Research Institute (abbreviated PWRI, also known as Doken) is a National Research and Development Agency, an incorporated administrative agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The current organization was newly launched on April 1, 2006, through the reorganization of the (pre-merger) incorporated administrative agency Public Works Research Institute (Minamihara, Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture; now the Tsukuba Central Research Institute) and the Hokkaido Development Civil Engineering Research Institute (Toyohira Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido; now the Civil Engineering Research Institute for Cold Region).
