About this place
Shirakura Gorge is a gorge in Tatsuyama-cho (formerly Tatsuyama Village), Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The center of the gorge, about 10 km along the Shirakura River, is said to be one of the best autumn foliage spots in Enshu. In the fresh green season, forest bathing is also possible. There are several small waterfalls. A promenade of about 1 km in total length, public restrooms, and a small parking lot are provided, but there is no rest area. The shop next to the parking lot operates only in season, but there is a guesthouse, Shirakura-so, in the Shirakura settlement, where meals and drinks can be bought.
