Nanukamachi Street is the popular name of a street in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture. Nanukamachi Street is a street in the urban area of Aizuwakamatsu, running from the west side of Noguchi Hideyo Seishun Street to the vicinity of Nanukamachi Station on the JR Tadami Line. In the Edo period it was part of the Echigo Highway route and also passed through the Yonezawa Highway and the Shimotsuke Highway, and had wholesalers and inns. There were especially many inns, with 30 said to have existed until the early Meiji period. The name Nanukamachi is said to come from a market being held on days containing the number seven each month.
