About this place
Arimatsu-Narumi shibori is a tie-dyed textile produced mainly in the Arimatsu and Narumi areas of Midori Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Since its birth in the Edo period it has produced most of Japan's tie-dyed products, and on 4 September 1975 it was designated Aichi Prefecture's first national Traditional Craft. It is sometimes referred to separately as "Arimatsu shibori" and "Narumi shibori."
