About this place
Mikawa Butsudan are Buddhist household altars made across the Mikawa region of Aichi Prefecture. They are designed with a low base to match the width, height and depth of a closet, with a three-tier drawer. A feature of the Mikawa Butsudan is its devices to make the altar look luxurious under the condition of a size that fits in a closet. This appears in the carving of the transom and in the specification of the "undulating nageshi" on the small cross-beam of the roof.
